Help Exchange jobs in New Zealand

Schemes in which you work a few hours a day (usually between 25-30 hours a week) are very popular with travellers. But make sure that you understand this: This is NOT a cheap holiday or an English language course, you really need to work, otherwise you are just taking advantage of people and will not be very popular. Some places may offer English lessons in exchange for extra work hours (i.e. work an hour extra, get an hour of English lessons). WWOOF and Workaway placement can either be on farms, in backpackers, on organic gardens or more curious places like restoring old houses. The advantages are that you basically don't have to spend any money while you are doing this, and many hosts will also show you around the area. You often are part of their family for a while, so you get to know the culture better. Work will often be quite physical.
