Fruit Picking Jobs for Backpackers in New Zealand

Seasonal jobs like fruit picking are the easiest jobs that travellers can find as you don't need any experience and you don't have to commit to a long time. Some orchards even take workers who only want to work for one or two weeks. Work on an orchard will usually also involve jobs like pruning the plants, weeding (depending on the type of orchard), and general maintenance. Work on an orchard is very physical and you will have long days (usually starting between 7 and 8 am, and finishing between 4 and 5 pm). You will usually have the weekends off, but you won't have much time to do anything else but working and resting during the week – which also means that you won't have much time to spend your hard-earned money, so seasonal work is a good way to fill up your bank account.
