Job Description
Join us on our 10-acre ecosanctuary in the beautiful Mackenzie Region near Mt Cook and Lake Tekapo! We’re a nice, easy-going family with three children, a small friendly dog and small cute puppy. We’ve been hosting backpackers for 8 years now and really love meeting new people. :-)
The volunteer work involves gardening, cleaning, cutting and stacking firewood, planting shrubs and trees, and general country chores.
*Dates: 20 March 13 April, then 18 to 30 April 2024*
Time commitment: we prefer 1 to 3 weeks but try it for a few days first and see if you like it! We can host 4 people.
We provide accommodation, breakfast and lunch supplies, and a healthy delicious vegan/vegetarian dinner with the family in exchange for five hours of unpaid volunteer work per day.
Accommodation is in sleepouts and there’s an amazing garage/lounge to hang out in, with video games, amazing DJ sound system & lights, musical instruments, board games, tons of movies, lounge chairs, and more!
We live in a very beautiful location with mountains in the backyard and only 3km from Lake Ohau, 17km to the town of Twizel, and a 45-minute drive to either Aoraki/Mount Cook or Lake Tekapo. It’s one of the most scenic places in New Zealand with lots of amazing outdoor activities to enjoy!
