The organisation

The Timaru District Council aims to enable democratic local decision-making and action by, and on behalf of communities, to promote the social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of its communities in the present and for the future. With around 400 employees, there are a diverse range of roles, from community-facing to support and technical specialists.

The role

If you're an enthusiastic and motivated individual, CBay has an awesome opportunity for you! We have three permanent full-time lifeguard positions available.

As our newest Lifeguard on the block, you will take pride in providing amazing customer service while ensuring a safe and fantastic aquatic experience for our community.

You'll have the ability to stay calm in busy and pressured situations and have a keen eye for spotting potential hazards and preventing incidents. We need an outstanding communicator with a strong team approach.

Previous Lifeguard experience/training and a current first aid certificate are preferred but not essential. You may be a confident swimmer looking to upskill - full training will be provided to the successful applicant. All applicants must be able to complete a practical assessment, including swimming 200m within six minutes, retrieving an object from the deepest part (3.5m) of the pool, and treading water for five minutes.

CBay operates seven days a week, so reliability and commitment to working early, late and weekend shifts is crucial. This is a permanent, full-time position offering 40 hours per week.
