Hostel Manager

We are looking for a motivated, confident and outgoing person or couple to become the Manager/s of Auckland best and busiest backpacker hostel. Located in the heart of the City operating a high flow of backpackers from all over the world you will be responsible for making sure their stay with us (maybe their first in Nz) is a good one.

The role of a Hostel Manager and their team is to plan and carry out the day to day operations of the hostel to make sure everything runs smoothly and we deliver a high quality service to our guests. Confidence is key along with the ability to work under pressure, some of these tasks but not limited are:

*Staff training and management
*Create specific task lists for each position
*Ensure team morale and motivation
*Conduct check-in and checkout procedures
*Provide local and regional information
*Maintain accurate reservation information
*Update bed allocation for online booking sites
*Liaise with OTAs
*Ensure quality standards for cleanliness
*Make beds, clean and organize bathrooms, dormitories, and common areas
*Maintain the hostel facilities in proper working order
*Maintain a business relationship with vendors and suppliers
*Cash handling and using an POS / Eftpos system
*Adjusting prices
*Relaying any problems to the business owner

Experience in a similar role is preferred but full and ongoing training will be provided throughout the employment. A private room is provided with the role and with a competitive salary for the right candidate. This role would best suit a backpacker / international guest looking to start their overseas experience.

A good level of spoken and written English is required along with the ability to live and work in New Zealand for 6 months or longer.
