We are a family-owned sheep milking farm, located just 5 minutes from Te Awamutu, in the Waikato, New Zealand. For this upcoming season we will be milking 850 ewes.
We are looking for a person with sheep handling experience to assist us during our lambing season. The person will work with the farm team to monitor and assist our ewes during the lambing period. The lambs are born outdoors and will have time with mum and are then moved to the purpose-built lamb rearing sheds to be hand reared.
This position will mainly be focused on the lambing down program, however from time-to-time, you may be required to assist with general farm tasks, milking and rearing.
We don’t use dogs on our farm.
Skills needed for the position:
• Ideally 2-3 years of sheep experience including assisting ewes with birth
• Good animal husbandry skills
• Empathy for livestock
• Enjoy handling livestock and be relaxed and calm when moving animals
• Motivation to make a positive contribution
• Good work ethic
• Patient
• Reliable and punctual
• Able to drive a manual vehicle, farm motorbikes and use trailers

In the peak/busy time you will be working a 6 on 1 off shift roster. Shifts hours will vary depending on the requirements each day, however you will have early starts.
You will need to commit yourself to being able to work from mid-July until October.
This is a unique and different position, so if you are looking for something different, particularly in a new and exciting industry, then please get in touch.
If you love animals and the outdoors, hardworking (physically fit), honest, reliable, positive attitude, team player and drug free this may be your opportunity.
Accommodation on farm is available.
Only apply if you meet the above criteria for the job and you have or are able to obtain a valid working visa for New Zealand.
