Calf Rearers (two Person Role)

We are seeking two people to rear calves on our farm near Te Awamutu in the Waikato from the middle or end of July until at least the middle of November.

Ideally you will have experience working with cattle, or at least be able to confidently operate a quad bike with a trailer. However full training will be provided.

The role starts at 20 hours per person (four hours per day over five days) until the start of August but will increase to 35-40 hours per person for 12 weeks (up to eight hours per day over five days) when hours will reduce again as calves are weaned.

The role will be feeding 150 dairy replacement heifers on whole milk and 350 beef cross calves on milk powder.

The role requires the lifting of buckets into feeders and 20kg bags of meal and milk powder so applicants must be physically fit.

Must have good attention to detail and be willing to learn to diagnose and treat minor health concerns and escalate any issues.

The rate is 25/hour plus 8% casual leave, this is paid fortnightly on a Thursday with PAYE, ACC and rent of 150 per person per week deducted (take home pay approximately 750 per person per week at the peak).

Accommodation is a fully furnished two bedroom house with a bathroom and full kitchen. You will only share with each other.

Rent includes power and wifi.
