Farm Assistant / Calving Specialist (Full-Time)
📍 Location: Near Ashburton, Canterbury
🚜 Term: Full-Time, Seasonal (July start through to the end of calving season, with potential to extend).

We are a progressive, well-structured dairy farm located just a short drive from Ashburton. We pride ourselves on maintaining high animal welfare standards, a clean working environment, and a positive team culture. Calving is our busiest and most rewarding time of the year, and we are looking for a reliable, energetic individual to join us for the upcoming season.

The Role:
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where your primary focus will be ensuring the health and wellbeing of our cows and newborn calves. You will be working closely with the Farm Manager and a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities:
Calf Rearing: Feeding, bedding, vaccinating, and monitoring the health of newborn calves.
Springing Cow
Milking Duties: Assisting with the colostrum/delivery mob and main herd milkings in a modern, well-maintained shed.
General Farm Work: Keeping the calf sheds spotless, shifting breaks, and ensuring top-tier hygiene standards.

About You:
Calving season requires fitness, resilience, and a genuine love for animals. Whether you are an experienced farm hand or someone with a great attitude looking to get a foot in the dairy industry, we want to hear from you.

What we are looking for:
- High standards of animal welfare and a gentle, patient approach to livestock.
- Ability to handle long hours on your feet, lifting and working in winter weather conditions.
- Punctuality is crucial—the cows don't wait!
- A positive, "can-do" attitude and the ability to communicate clearly.
- A valid driver’s license.
