Work Exchange

We live on a beautiful lifestyle property surrounded by native bush in Kiripaka, just outside Whangārei, on the way to the Tutukaka Coast. It’s a pretty special spot — close to stunning beaches, great surf, and world-class diving. We’re a sociable, easy-going couple in our 30s and would love to host someone similar (20s–30s) who enjoys the outdoors and a bit of good company.

In exchange for board and accommodation, we ask for around 2–3 hours of help per day. The work is a mix of landscaping and garden maintenance around the house, plus some conservation-focused projects like trapping, gorse control, and maintaining tracks through our 22 hectares of native bush.

There’s plenty to enjoy here in your downtime — we have glow worms, cave wētā, and even the occasional kiwi on the property. You’re also welcome to borrow our outdoor gear (kayaks, surfboards, etc.) to make the most of the area.

You’ll be living with us, our two cats, and one scruffy (but very loveable) terrier. We’re open to flexible lengths of stay — whether you’re passing through or keen to settle in for a bit.

You’ll have a comfortable double room, a shared bathroom, and plenty of space to relax and have your own downtime when you need it.
