Casual Baker – Gluten Free, Organic & Plant-Based Bakery
We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable baker to join our small but very busy bakery team on a casual basis.
Our bakery specializes in gluten-free, organic and plant-based breads and pastries, and we take pride in producing high-quality products with attention to detail. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and being part of a passionate, supportive team.
About the role
You will be involved in a variety of bakery tasks including:
Dough preparation and mixing
Baking breads and pastries
Working with sourdough and specialty gluten-free recipes
Packing and preparing orders
Maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness
Our bakery days start early at 5:00am, and typically finish around 12:00–1:00pm, leaving the rest of the day free.
What we’re looking for
Previous bakery experience is essential
Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable working in a small team
Reliable and punctual
Willingness to follow food safety and health & safety procedures
Own vehicle and driver’s licence required
Availability to occasionally help at the farmers market on Saturdays
As winter approaches, you’ll need to be brave enough to face the cold Dunedin mornings — but don’t worry, the bakery will keep you toasty warm and well fed.
Pay
23 – 28 per hour depending on experience.
